If you’re an enthusiastic carnivore or you at least take a healthy interest in the food world, you’ll be aware that burgers have graduated from fast food to haute cuisine in recent years.

It’s no longer acceptable to throw any old lump of beef onto a bun and call it quits. Okay so that was never okay but you get what we’re saying. While many burgers have experimented and experimented well, some have taken things a bit too far…

Just like Burger King Japan, who have just unveiled a rather interesting effort below, available in select restaurants from 6 July. So to mark this bizarre fast food offering, here we present the world’s 10 craziest burgers.

Burger King Japan’s Red Burger

After weirding customers out with the bun that looked far too burnt (see further down), Burger King Japan’s latest oddity is bright red. Available in beef and chicken, even if it does stick out too far, diners will even find themselves faced with red cheese – which we can’t promise won’t taste like accidentally eating the plastic wrapper on a Babybel – but it does look cool. Stranger still, the dish also comes with ‘angry sauce’: a red-hot mix of chilli peppers and paste which is sure to turn your face the same colour.

The Burger With 1,000 Slices Of Cheese

Over in Japan, Burger King has a genuinely demented rule which allows you to super-size your burger to your artery-clogged heart’s content. So of course, some cheese-loving locals decided to buy a Whopper with 1,000 slices of cheese and film the frankly disturbing results. All 95,000 calories of it.

The Fried Gravy Burger

While in the UK, gravy is typically used with hushed reverence on roast dinners, over in the US it’s given a worryingly free reign. But even Americans would surely be a little unsettled with this creation from Weiner and Still Champion, a fast food mecca in Illinois. The burger contains your regular patty and a horrifying portion of chicken gravy, breaded in seasoned flour and then deep-fried. There are no words but if there were, they’d be appalled or shocked.

The Douche Burger

After the Guinness World Record for the world’s most expensive burger was handed to Le Burger Extravagant, the $295 creation from Serendipity 3 in New York, the 666 Burger Food Truck decided to out-do them as soon as humanly possible. They created The Douche Burger, which costs $666 and contains a Kobe patty, stuffed with foie gras and wrapped in gold leaf with caviar, lobster and truffles piled on top. It also contains Gruyere melted with Champagne steam and a BBQ sauce made using Kopi Luwak coffee, one of the world’s most expensive coffees. Even though it was ultimately a joke, one person actually bought it. True fact.

The Lasagna Burger

Intent on making a burger that involved yet another fattening dish, the guys at Dude Foods created this stomach-busting mash-up. The patty contains ground beef and ground Italian sausage and it’s topped with mozzarella cheese, lasagna sheets, tomato sauce and some ricotta cheese. It’s like no-one learned anything from the Lasandwich.

Juicy’s 777lb Burger

Now, we’re not one for skimping on portion size but lines have to be drawn. This monstrous record-breaker from Juicy’s Outlaw Grill weighed 777lbs, contained 10lbs of mustard, 10lbs of mayonnaise, 12lbs of pickles, 20lbs of onions and 20lbs of lettuce. It may very well kill you but what a way to go…

Les Hambur Goûts

The poshest burger on the list may also be the dumbest. At the Chalet Regain in France, Les Hambur “goûts” takes everything you love about a burger and then makes it really really complicated. So you take off the cylinder of greens and then you have a spherical jug of thin tomato sauce inside the bun which you pour into the burger, along with another topping of choice in a separate cup. By which time you’ll have worked off the calories you’re about to ingest. Almost.

The Dark Vador Burger

To coincide with the 3D release of Phantom Menace, French fast food chain Quick decided to release a special burger. Now normally this wouldn’t be of note but it rapidly became an international phenomenon. Why? Because it has a black bun. A black bun. Thankfully it was just dyed rather than burned or flavoured with evil. So they claimed.

The Quadruple Bypass Burger

If you like to live life in the fast lane but you’re still not brave enough for anything genuinely dangerous then this calorific feast is the meal you’ve been looking for. The Heart Attack Grill (clue) is a Las Vegas eatery that pushes an 8,000 calorie meal featuring a burger with four half-pound patties, cheese and bacon. The good news: if you’re over 350lbs, you eat for free. Stay classy guys.

The Test Tube Burger

Okay so this isn’t actually an edible burger just yet but by October, it worryingly will be. Crazed scientist Mark Post was keen to create “ethical meat” by turning stem cells into meat. It’s a lengthy process but he hopes to have the first burger ready soon at the totally reasonable cost of just £220,000. Good news for the environment. Bad news for burger-lovers existing within the environment.

Building lean muscles is often perceived as an easy task that would be gained by simply eating anything to everything that comes your way. Well, this is one of the biggest mistakes that most people make when trying to achieve their goals.

Building lean muscles all depends on what you choose to eat. There are certain foods that are highly recommended and yet there are those that should totally be avoided. For example, junky foods should not be in your list of favorite foods if you are planning to build lean muscles. In addition to eating a lot of calories, serious training should be part of your regular routine.

When building lean muscles, the main target that should be on your mind in terms of your diet plan is taking foods with minimal fat content. Doing this is quite beneficial in a variety of ways including the fact that you would be saving your heart from diseases such as heart attacks and strokes. Also, your metabolism would be improved and your joints strengthened. Below are top foods to take when planning to build lean muscles.

Beef

Beef is one of the most recommended foods to build lean muscle since they have a lot of proteins to offer. Additionally, they contain cholesterol, vitamin B, iron and zinc. If you can get beef from cattle that are grass fed then this would work best for you. This is because grass fed cattle have got more conjugated linoleic acid than other forms of cattle. Thus, building lean muscle would be easy since fat shedding would be boosted by eating beef.

Salmon

The protein obtained from salmon is similar to that which is obtained from pork, beef and chicken. The best thing about salmon is that they have low fat content (bad fats). Hence by eating salmon the risk of gaining high cholesterol levels is low. Omega 3 fats are also present in salmon which implies that you would be gaining benefits such as reducing heart diseases, glowing skin and healthy joints.

Beets

Beets are famous for betaine nutrient. This nutrient is the best remedy for joint problems and liver ailments. Studies have also proven that betaine helps to enhance muscle power and strength.

Brown Rice

To ensure that you train for hours without getting tired, brown rice is recommended for you. This rice takes time to be digested which ensures that your body retains energy during your workout sessions. Furthermore, brown rice boosts GH (Growth Hormone) levels and this encourages the lean muscle growth that you yearn for.

Eggs

Eggs are an excellent choice for proteins. Medics argue that eggs help in boosting lean muscle growth and also enhancing strength gains. This is attributed to the yolks since cholesterol is found here.
At times people are worried about their cholesterol levels shooting up after eating a lot of yolks. Well, studies prove that cholesterol obtained from eggs help in reducing LDL i.e. bad cholesterol linked with atherosclerosis.

Cantaloupe

Building lean muscle also requires that you take in some healthy carbs. Cantaloupe is a fruit considered to be the best in carbs that digest easily.

From noodles to crickets, everything is game when it comes to ingredients for constructing the “perfect” desserts around the world. Every country has a sweet spot for desserts, but how they fill it may be considered taboo to us. But if you find yourself traveling to any of these countries, to get the full experience you must give these strange desserts a try.

1. Cendol,Malaysia

No these aren’t green worms. Cendol is a popular dish in Southeast Asia, made from jelly noodles, coconut milk, shaved ice, green food coloring, palm sugar and red beans. While it sounds like something you would put together extremely drunk or out of despair, it all goes surprisingly well together. If you are planning a trip to Malaysia and with a tight budget (a big bowl costs about 2.50 RM which is equivalent to 62 cents!) its a must taste of their traditional way of life.

Get it here: Cendol & Rojak Mustaffa Food Truck (Selangor, Malaysia)

2. Tavuk göğsü, Turkey

There’s an unwritten rule of desserts somewhere and it says “chicken and desserts don’t mix”, yet the Turkish didn’t get the memo. One of their signature desserts dishes is called Tavuk Gogsu and it combines rice flour, chicken, cinnamon and sweetened milk. The taste is similar to a sweet pudding and well, chicken. But don’t expect to bite into a chicken leg, as the meat is separated into very thin fibers and pounded into powder and then added into the mixture. It was good enough for the Ottoman sultans almost 600 years ago, so it may be just good enough for you.

Get it here: YanyalI Fehmi LokantasI Restaurant (Istanbul, Turkey)

3. Crème de Abacate, Brazil

If there’s anyone that loves avocados more than Californians, its the Brazilians. If you were to order Crème de Abacate in a restaurant, at first sight, you may receive something that looks like green goo. But this beloved Brazilian dessert is actually whipped avocado! It typically combines avocados, cream, sugar and lime juice. Although it sounds like a weird combination, it’s a must try for any avocado lover.

Make your own: Blend 1 can of condensed milk, 1 medium avocado and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Let it chill before serving.

4. Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream, Philippines

For the thrill seekers out there, there is a shop in Manilla that does ice cream a little different. The Iscreamist shop serves ice cream that is dipped into liquid nitrogen. Liquid nitrogen is extremely cold but if used properly, apparently it makes a quite fun experience! The shop offers anything from s’mores to ice cream that you can dip into liquid nitrogen yourself.

Get it here: The Iscreamist (Metropolitan Manila, Philippines)

5. Deep Fried Candy Bars, Scotland

What started as a novelty item in chip shops has grown into one of Scotland’s staple street desserts. Since 1990’s, media popularized this desert, partly through commentary on urban Scotland’s deleterious, high-sugar and high-fat diets. This dessert has been even criticized by Mars Inc. themselves, who said that they don’t promote their products being fried as it goes against their mission of promoting “healthy” lifestyles. Even with the backlash, it seems that there’s no stopping of the Mars bars in Scotland.

Get it here: The Royal Mile Tavern (Edinburgh, Scotland)

6. Chocolate Covered Crickets, Thailand

I can tolerate insects in my protein bars but that’s where I draw the line. What’s that? They are covered in chocolate? Scratch that. Although 80% of the world eats insects, it hasn’t caught on in the Western world just yet. Chocolate covered crickets remain a dessert only for those brave enough to give it a try and a mystery to the faint-hearted. Reportedly, the crunchy and sweet combination is something that you may just want to try. If you are feeling adventurous you don’t have to travel all the way to the street vendors in Thailand to get these, simply order some here. It comes with “yummy” extras as well.

Get it here: Street vendors (Thailand)

7. Red Bean Cake, Hong Kong

In many regions of China, including Hong Kong, red beans are often used in desserts. Azuki beans are prepared in many ways to make them into interesting desserts. For example in China, Azuki beans are mashed into a paste and then frozen. It is then sweetened and sprinkled with sesame seeds. The result is a dense, soft and tasty dessert. While there are many varieties of this red bean cake, the people in Asia all seem to swear by it, so maybe its worth a try.

8. Picarones, Peru

Picarones is a dessert that originated in Peru during the Colonial era. While it is reminiscent of the donut, it’s made from sweet potato and squash instead. It is then sweetened by syrup made from chancaca (a sweet sauce made from unrefined or raw sugar). This makes this dessert a bit healthier than its highly-processed American brother.

9. Ais Kacang, Singapore

Another dish that utilized red beans, along with shaved ice, sweet corn, jelly (from green grass), lychee fruit and evaporated milk. All the ingredients come together to form this tie-dyed Singaporian sundae. If its not sweet enough already, it’s often topped with strawberry syrup or condensed milk. Next time maybe you’ll consider throwing in some veggies in your dessert.

10. Wasabi Ice Cream, Japan

One of the weirdest desserts comes in the form of ice cream from Japan. Perhaps saddened by the fact that wasabi was only eaten with their sushi, the Japanese created wasabi ice cream. Wasabi, also know as Japanese horseradish, is the same ingredient that has left thousands of first time sushi-ers gasping for air and is the dominating flavor in this dessert. Nevertheless, it is reported that the ice cream is pleasantly tingly, so if you love spicy-sweet combinations, put this one on your to-try list and proceed with caution.

An apple a day keeps the doctor away — and it also makes for a pretty boring fruit routine.

Why not shake things up and try a nutritious fruit or veggie you may have never even seen before? We rounded up some of the most absurd-looking produce we could find and in the process discovered some with enticing health perks. Check out some of our favorites in the slideshow below. Then tell us in the comments if you’ve ever tried any of these!

1 Cherimoya

Don’t be thrown off by the scaly skin — the exterior of this heart-shaped green fruit isn’t for eating. Once ripe (it will feel soft to the touch), the skin turns brown, ABC News reported, and inside will be a creamy flesh that gives the cherimoya its nickname, the custard apple. The fruit tastes like a cross between a banana and a pineapple, according to Mother Nature Network. (Don’t eat the black seeds, either.) It boasts more fiber than an apple with seven grams per fruit, and it packs 60 percent of your daily recommended vitamin C to boot.

2 Star Fruit

Technically called the carambola, this tropical fruit is more commonly known as the star fruit, thanks to the shape of its slices. It can add tart flavor to seafood or meat dishes, registered dietitian Mira Ilic told Woman’s Day, and makes a tasty jam or chutney. Fresh, a medium-sized fruit packs only 28 calories, plus some potassium, fiber and more than half your daily recommended vitamin C, with the watery goodness of a watermelon and the crunch of a cucumber, ABC News reported.

3 Kumquats

Who shrunk the oranges?! These miniature bites may look cute, but they pack serious flavor in that tiny package. While they appear to be in the citrus family, some botanists classify them as Fortunella instead, NPR reported. Still, they share similar health benefits with lip-puckering citrus, namely vitamin C and fiber — especially since you can eat the whole thing, rind and all. Just stay away from the “candied” variety; the syrupy sugar added to mitigate that natural tartness really only adds empty calories. Try kumquats sliced raw into salads or cooked into a chutney for seafood or meat dishes, NPR suggests.

4 Dragonfruit

Technically called a pitaya or pitahaya, this cactus — yes, cactus! — is a hot-pink showstopper. “From the outside the fruit looks like a hot pink bulb ringed with a jester’s crown of curly greenish petals,” The New York Times wrote in 2011: Slice it open, and there’s a white (or, on rare occasions, fuchsia) scoop of sweet pulp speckled with tiny black seeds. Either way, it suggests an Easter bonnet that Cruella de Vil might wear in a drag remake of “101 Dalmatians.” Its taste, however, is much less flashy, which is why dragon fruit is often added to dishes (or drinks) with “soft” flavors, according to the Times, like strawberry or even rose petal. It’s rich in fiber and antioxidants, CBS reported, and may contain some healthy pre-biotics.

5 Buddha’s Hand

This finger-like fruit has a lemony taste without the pulpy texture of citrus. The rind works well for zesting, registered dietitian Jennifer Dimitriou told Woman’s Day, since it packs even more flavor than a more traditional citrus fruit. Plus, it’s loaded with vitamin C. Just one tablespoon provides 13 percent of your daily recommended intake.

6 Kiwano

This spiky fruit could pass for a video game hazard. Also known as a horned melon or an African horned cucumber (or “blowfish fruit,” for obvious reasons), you only eat the juicy green insides, which taste like a mix of zucchini, cucumber, kiwi and banana, according to Woman’s Day and Mother Nature Network. Since the fruit is mostly water, kiwano can help keep you hydrated on a hot day, especially since it’s rich in potassium. The fruit also boasts vitamins A and C and some iron.

7 Jackfruit

The largest fruit to grow on trees can reach up to 80 pounds(!), according to Mother Nature Network. Described as having a “buttery flesh,” jackfruit is somewhat starchy and makes for tasty homemade chips. A number of curry recipes call for the fruit, although it can also be eaten raw, the Village Voice reported. It’s a good source of vitamin C and manganese, a mineral found in the bones, liver, kidneys and pancreas that is also essential for brain and nerve function.

8 Rambutan

This lesser-known relative of the lychee deserves a share of the spotlight. The grape-like flesh can be eaten raw right out of the anemone-looking exterior — just discard the seed. The fruit contains some vitamin C, iron and manganese, but beware canned varieties which may be packed in sugary syrup.

9 Mangosteen

Underneath that tough shell, the fruit of the mangosteen is “sweet, tangy, citrusy and peachy,” according to Mother Nature Network. It packs some fiber, iron and vitamin C and is a good source of folate, a B vitamin especially important for pregnant women. It can carry a hefty price tag fresh, but keep in mind that canned versions often are packed in syrup (read: sugar).

10 Turmeric Root

You’ve probably come across it in powdered form on your spice rack, but that turmeric actually starts out as a pretty gnarly looking root. It will take a little grinding or grating, but you can toss it into any number of dishes (or even smoothies) to reap a number of health benefits. Those perks are likely due to curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric, which acts as a powerful antioxidant. There’s some research to suggest curcumin could help fight off some types of cancer, arthritis and even Alzheimer’s disease, among other ailments, according to the American Cancer Society. Like other herbs and spices, turmeric is a way to add lots of flavor without lots of calories, salt or fat.

Follow these expert diet tips to keep your kidneys healthy and prevent kidney diseases and infections.

Kidneys are among the most vital organs of your body as they help process everything you put in your body from medications, foods to alcohol. A proper diet can revitalise your system and rid your system of harmful virus, bacteria and parasites. Cleansing the kidneys is important to prevent kidney infection and kidney stone formation. Follow this diet by Delhi-based nutritionist, Dr Kanika Girdhar to bolster your immunity and keep your kidneys healthy.

Drink warm water with lemon juice

Start your day with a cup of hot water and a dash of lemon juice. Having this concoction first thing in the morning will flush the toxins out of your body. Also, follow these tips to prevent kidney problems and diseases.

Load up on fruits and vegetables

Including more fruits and vegetables in your diet can reduce your risk of kidney infection and metabolic acidosis—a condition where your body produces too much acid. People with chronic kidney disease are more susceptible to metabolic acidosis. Fruits and vegetables can help the kidneys remove the excess acid and excrete it through urine. Bell peppers, cabbage, cauliflower and onions can be perfect to keep your kidneys healthy. Rich in antioxidants the power-packed berries can help flush out the uric acid from the kidneys, keeping them healthy. Apples are also rich in fibre and antioxidants that can improve the kidney function.

Consume parsley and dandelion leaves

One of the nature’s best diuretics, dandelion leaves help strengthen the kidneys and aid in the proper functioning of the urinary tract. Just brew dried dandelion leaves into a refreshing tea and drink it once a day. Parsley also helps flush the toxins from the kidneys. You can either add parsley leaves to your salad or brew parsley tea.

Drink healthy beverages

Drinking fresh juices can be an excellent way of including more fluids and keeping your kidneys healthy. Fluids help the digestive system to extract more water and flush out wastes from the body. However, if you suffer from a kidney disease, avoid juices made from vegetables like spinach and beets. These vegetables are rich in oxalic acid which promotes the formation of kidney stones. Instead, drink coconut water to rejuvenate your organs.

Avoid caffeine, alcohol and refined foods

Limit your intake of coffee, alcohol and refined foods as they can be tough to process, thus putting a lot of strain on your kidneys. A high-protein diet can also do more harm than good. Eating too much protein can also strain the kidneys causing them to work harder even to the point of resulting in kidney malfunction. Here are things your nephrologist (kidney specialist) wants you to know.

Limit your intake of salt

Avoid store-bought soups and deli meals laden with salt. Your body expends a lot of energy in expelling the excess salt. When you consume too much salt, your kidneys have to work even harder to process it. Hence, it is a good idea to lower your intake of salt and restricting it to five-six grams of salt per day, which accounts to one teaspoon, is beneficial. In general, it is good to limit the amount of processed and restaurant food and eat home cooked food with clean and fresh ingredients.

If you are a little bit health conscious, you know that what you eat is the most important to avoid illnesses. You may have already started consuming more fruits and veggies, and you do not eat as much junk as you used to be.

But what if I tell you that it is not enough. What if I say that those “healthy” foods that you buy from the stores are actually bad for you?

There is a huge difference between having an apple from the supermarket and an organic farm.

If you want to have proper nutrition, you should have as many natural products as possible.

Read on to find out why you need to settle with organic foods.

To Avoid Chemicals

Did you know that more than 600 chemicals are registered and used in the agriculture in the USA? And billions of pounds of these harmful chemicals are used in each year? Shocking, isn’t?

If you go to the a supermarket, you can see huge and perfect looking fruits and veggies (even if they are on the shelves for weeks). If you think that this is normal, then think twice. Those harmful chemicals are the reasons why those products are so perfect.

Organics farming is not allowed to use any of these chemicals. The products are maybe not so perfect and tempting, but they do not hold things that make you ill. Here you can read more about the chemicals in the agriculture.

To Take in More Nutrients

Those foods that are produced on organic farms are far richer in beneficial nutrients because of the healthy soil they are grown in. Compared to conventional foods they hold much more minerals, vitamins, enzymes, etc. So, even if you eat less organic food, you will take in more nutrients.

Better Taste

If you grew up in the countryside like me, you might know the real taste of the fruits and greens. The taste of the factory-made products cannot compete with the organic foods.

Try it yourself. Buy some tomatoes from a bio farm and the store. The difference is unbelievable.

To Avoid GMO

Sad but true but genetically engineered food production is legal in almost everywhere now. The problem is that we do not know who it affects the nature, and the human body since this technology has been used only for 15 years.

If you buy organic food, you do not have to be afraid of it, since it is forbidden to utilize this technology.

To Avoid Drugs and Hormones

Watch the video how organic farmers do it.

It is unbelievable that how many ways the “modern” agriculture manipulates the nature to produce more in less time. They give hormones and other drugs to the animals, and in their meat, those unwanted components can be found.

A hundred year ago it took months for farmers to raise a chicken, now in 3 weeks the chickens are in cutting age.

Meat from organic farms is clear from these drugs. Besides the animals have had a much better life. And the taste of those meats is delicious.

To Preserve the Ecosystem

Organic farming is not only good for you but the Earth, since it is in harmony with nature. These farmers use old, but proven and nature safe technologies to prevent the health of the soil such as crop rotation.

These people know that it is possible to grow products without damaging and with the help of the wildlife.

To Protect the Water, Air, and Soil

A huge problem with the various fertilizers, pesticides and other chemicals in the agriculture is that they poison the environment, the water and sooner or later they destroy the value of the farmland. So, they make you unhealthy immediately.

Since organic farming does not use any of these, they do not pollute the environment in any ways. And they can maintain a long-lasting food production.

To Protect the Future Generation

If you support the unethical agriculture, you take part in worsening the future of your kids and of course yours. Water and soil pollution is already a critical problem all over the world, and it is going to be worse.

Conclusion

Next time you go to the shop and want to pick a shining, large apple think what you have learned today. Instead, find an organic greengrocer. You may have to pay a little bit more, but you get products that are really healthy. And you support those true and hard-working farmers who want to provide real value for the people without damaging the world around them.
